Decent little hard drive

Strengths: Sleek looking; compact; good brand name (maxtor); bus-powered; lots of software (if you like it or need it)

Weakness: Expensive relative to non-software bundled versions; backup software is shaky

I've had this for a few weeks, and as an external portable USB hard drive, its great! I use it to carry along MP3's so I can always have them with me, and not clutter up my laptop hard drive. The other reason I got it was to perform backups of my laptop's hard drive. While it does basic stuff just fine, I can do better with Norton's Ghost or the free SyncBack. Review external Hard Drive

Strengths: Portable, Good for Backup.

Weakness: Nothing till now.

I have used the one touch technology to take backup. it is working fine. My purpose of hard drive has been solved. Earlier i have a wrong impression about this one touch technology. But till now no such bad experience.

Strengths: Fast transfer speeds, large capactiy, one touch button and large 8mb buffer size.

Weakness: Slightly larger size than many other external hard drives.

The Maxtor Mini 100gb external hard drive is great for users on the go. I have been using mine to back up documents, pictures, and music that I have on my laptop. The drive comes packaged with a "Y" usb cable when one usb port does not provide enough power to the external drive. I have been fairly impressed with the very fast transfer speeds provided with the USB 2.0 interface.

Weakness: a liiitle bit slow

I have been using this device for a month. I like it. I can say that for this price this is the best external mini divice. Good brand, good product, and t a good quality.

Strengths: sleek design, portable, don't need external power

Weakness: N/A

Great for backup if you have lots of music/video files. It's portable, so it's also good for transferring large files between computers. You only need a USB port to run this device, no external power supply needed. It's a big plus, because sometimes electrical outlets are not available. Recommended.

Weakness: Price

The Maxtor Mini 100gb hard drive is the ultimate in portable hard drives. It is portable, for easy on-the-go storage. The 8mb cache buffer size helps the maxtor stand out from other 2mb cache buffer externals on the market. It is also great that the drive does not require an external power source.

Good things do come in small packages

Strengths: Simple, easy to use interface with the famous OneTouch button from Maxtor. Includes security & power consumption options. Compact backup solution with great bang for the buck.

Weakness: Despite a complete backup, the task tray icon still says the backup failed. Backup progress indicator could use some work - it doesn't seem to keep up with the actual progress.

I've been pretty pleased with this product. I bought it off a recommendation from Maximum PC & PC Magazine, like I do many products. The only complaint I've had so far is the task bar indicator saying my backup failed when from all indications it worked 4.0. It's a great little backup drive with easy to use software. Strengths: Reasonable price

Weakness: Not functional, at least when challanged

I bought this drive 2 months ago. I use it for file back-up and transfer btw work/office PCs by syncing all my folders both places daily. Initially it worked fine. Once my home PC rebooted b/o a windows stop error (no idea why, probably not related to this disk) during a sync operation while the external disk was being written to.
